Owain Caruana-Davies

Sessional Lecturer Design

Owain Caruana-Daviesis a spatial designer, artist and design educator based in London. Born in Wales, Owain's background is in architecture where he earned a degree from Oxford Brookes School of Architecture.
After working as an architectural designer he achieved a scholarship to complete an MA in Interior and Spatial Design at Chelsea College of Arts. His masters project titled ‘Fragmentation’ received a Distinction and was awarded the 'Dean's Award' following a successful exhibition in London.
His research focuses on post-industrial obsolescence through intervention and inhabitation, particularly within the ship breaking industry.
With a strong interest in design education, Owain has been invited as a tutor and critic to the following institutions: University of the Arts London, University of Westminster, Oxford Brookes University, and University for the Creative Arts. Owain's passion for teaching established from his experience as a counsellor overseeing 730 students to help with problems including mental health and wellbeing.
Owain is a Director at Beat It Percussion CIC. A Non Profit Organisation with a vision to work with groups of people in the community to share music-making skills. Its primary focus is on people who are living with dementia and their carers who benefit from the practical, emotional and social support provided by interventions.
Owain is working on a number of projects in London and has also completed projects internationally. His artwork has also been exhibited in London, Boston, Lithuania and Ukraine.
