MULTISTORY* Spring 2017/2018 Line-up

We’re delighted to announce our extraordinary MULTISTORY* 2017/2018 Spring line-up of open lectures.

Kicking things off will be Hikaru Nissanke & Jon Lopez of OMMX on Thursday 18th January at 1800.

This year, our speakers range again from writers, historians, artists, academics as well as architects, poets, developers and curators.
MULTISTORY* lectures run from 1800 – 1900 on Thursday evenings in the Architecture Foyer at UCA Canterbury, unless otherwise stated. Details for each event are posted here in advance.

MULTISTORY* is an alumni and student led initiative within the school. All events are free and open to all.

SPRING 2017/2018

Hikaru Nissanke & Jon Lopez // OMMX

OMMX work on social housing, private residencies, galleries, shops and furniture amongst other commissions.
In 2017, they won a competition to design 22 experimental homes for not-for-profit house builder Naked House, back by the Mayor of London.

Dr Kristen Kreider & James O’Leary // KREIDER + O’LEARY

Kreider + O’Leary are a poet and an architect who collaborate to make performances, installation and time-based media work in relation to sites of architectural and cultural interest.

Lara Lesmes & Fredrik Hellberg // SPACE POPULAR

Space Popular is a multidisciplinary design and research practice. They make architecture, products, furniture, graphics, interfaces and research.

Sarah Wigglesworth is Director of Sarah Wigglesworth Architects. Her work is characterized by careful theorizing of the issues unique to each project and close engagement with clients and users.

Matt Shaw // ScanLAB

ScanLAB are a pioneering creative practice exploring the world through precise, beautiful digital replicas of buildings, landscapes, objects and events.

Colin Holden // Head of School Inaugural Talk

Colin Holden is the new Head of School at Canterbury School of Architecture. To note this, he will be giving his inaugural Head of School Talk.

Simon Pruciak // Artist & Photographer

Simon Pruciak is a lens based artists whose work includes photography, moving image and installations. He is also interested in the interconnections between Buddhist and pre-Socratic philosophy and ways in which these continue to be reflected in contemporary western philosophy.

Ben Langlands & Nikki Bell // Artists

Langlands & Bell explore the complex web of relationships linking people and architecture and the coded systems of mass communications and exchange we use to negotiate a fast changing technological world.
