MULTISTORY Guest Lecture
Tatjana Schneider
Thurs 10th Apr 6pm

We are pleased to announce a MULTISTORY guest lecture by:

Tatjana Schneider // Spatial Agency //

Thursday 10th April 2014 // Drinks 5.30pm // Lecture 6pm // Architecture Building Foyer Space // UCA Canterbury

Tatjana Schneider’s work is concerned with the social and economic mechanisms behind the production of space. She is interested in an understanding of architecture as a collaborative, empowering and essentially political discipline. This focus takes various expressions: sometimes it is formulated either visually or in written form as critique against normative intellectual tendencies; in other instances, it is expressed through direct spatial interventions; and, occasionally, it takes activist dimensions.

Tatjana Schneider has co-authored a number of prolific research projects in recent years, including ‘Flexible Housing’ (with J Till), ‘Spatial Agency’ (with J Till and N Awan) and ‘Right to Build’ (with A Parvin, D Saxby of 00:/ architecture and C Cerulli). As well as being published, these seminal research investigations have received RIBA Awards for Practice based Research and Outstanding University-located Research.

Tatjana Schneider studied architecture in Germany and Scotland. She has worked in architectural practice in Germany and was a founder member of the workers cooperative Glasgow Letters on Architecture and Space (G.L.A.S.) and the Sheffield-based research centre AGENCY. She is currently Director of PhD Programmes at Sheffield School of Architecture.

Multistory is a student and alumni led guest lecture series at Canterbury School of Architecture, University for the Creative Arts. We seek to invite architects, designers, writers, curators, photographers and artists to speak about their work.
