MULTISTORY* Guest lecture
Rachel Jenkins

As we tentatively re-emerge from this tumultuous period, this term’s guest lecture series takes the opportunity to reflect upon the sudden changes we have experienced to the ways that we live, work, learn and practice. We will hear from architects, makers, artists, writers and educators about how they are adapting their practice to new and emerging parameters, and the projects that are inspiring them to do so. With an emphasis on care and wellbeing, we ask ‘how are designers best placed to contribute to a global recovery, and what needs to change for a better future for all?’.

We will be kicking off this term's MULTISTORY* lecture series this week with a talk from our very own Rachel Jenkins. Rachel will be talking about her wonderful project FORTUNE HERE. Fortune Here is conceived as a contribution to the ongoing programme of Urban Room Folkestone - URF (commissioned for Creative Folkestone Triennial 2017). The URF programme provides an opportunity to rethink & promote alternatives to current models of urban production and co-operation. Using her creative practice to engage in conversations about agency, aspirations & access, genuinefake founder, Rachel Stella Jenkins, believes all towns and cities should have an Urban Room. Engendering a continual process of enquiry and alignment between the needs and aspirations of individuals and communities with the built environment that surrounds them: architecture as necessarily a process of constant dialogue. This project aims to encourage communities and individuals to use their agency to influence their futures.
