Sonya (Flynn) Baker ARB

Senior Lecturer in Architecture // Professional Studies Advisor

An experienced practicing architect, Sonya is a founding partner of Margate based practice Meme Architects, specialising in private residential architecture and interiors.

Prior to co-founding Meme Architects, Sonya began her career working at high profile practices such as Foster and Partners and Hawkins / Brown where she concentrated on housing, office developments and large-scale transport projects for TFL and Crossrail.

With a keen interest in Performance buildings, she has worked as a theatre consultant at Charcoalblue, designing theatre and performance spaces, where projects she worked on include the RST in Stratford Upon Avon, The Dorfman at the National and The Queen Elizabeth Concert Hall in Antwerp.

Sonya completed her studies at University of Greenwich and University of Westminster in London and joined UCA in 2019.

Work by Meme Architects has been shortlisted in the Don’t Move Improve 2019 awards and projects have recently featured in the Guardian, Observer and Sunday Times as well as other home magazines.
