Prof Colin Holden

Director of Canterbury School of Architecture and Design



Colin is the Director of Canterbury School of Architecture and Design. He studied architecture at the University of Edinburgh and has practiced in Berlin, Kuala Lumpur and London. He worked in the Sterling Prize-winning studio of Stanton Williams in London on cultural and commercial projects for the National Gallery, the National Theatre, MoMA Oxford, Whitby Abbey, the University of Brighton and Issey Miyake. He co-founded the practice arclab in 2000.

Previous teaching includes spells at the Universities of Westminster, Brighton, Nottingham Trent and Kingston. At Kingston Colin was Associate Professor, Associate Head of the Design School and course leader for the MA Design: Product+Space. He was recently the chief external examiner for BA programmes at the Arts, Design and Media College AKTO in Athens and Thessaloniki, and is currently the external examiner for MA Interior Architecture at Middlesex University. Colin is on the Board of Governors at UCA.

Research interests include the Parthenon sculpture fragments held by museums outside London and Athens and the post-war residential development of the Dulwich Estate by Wates Build and Austin Vernon Architects.
