Chloe Young

Associate Lecturer in Architecture

Chloe Young graduated with a Masters in Architecture from Edinburgh College of Art in 2005. She also studied at the Kunstakademiet Arkitektskole in Copenhagen and Westminster University. She has worked for several architectural practices, on a wide range of residential, commercial & arts projects. Alongside this she has run her own design practice, Reworks Studio, for 12 years.

The practice’s focus has most recently been on small scale experimental work for retail environments, with a strong emphasis on design and construction as a collaborative process. This has meant close working relationships with craftspeople & engineers, co-designing and utilising technologies such as CNC, allowing off site fabrication and minimising site time.

Chloe is particularly interested in micro and small scale architecture, how the body relates directly
to the built form, surface & materiality - the effects of time, weathering & human interaction - and how this plays out at different scales.
