Adam Hiles

Associate Lecturer in Architecture



Adam Hiles is a Director of Novak Hiles Architects, which he co-founded with Carla Novak.
Novak Hiles Architects was named Finalist in the BD Young Architect of the Year Awards 2022 and Shortlisted for the RIBA J Rising Star Awards 2020.

Adam studied at UCA Canterbury School of Architecture where he graduated with Distinction and was nominated for the RIBA Silver Medal as well as the RIBA Presidents Award for Research in Architecture. He went on to qualify as an Architect from the Bartlett School of Architecture UCL also with Distinction and was awarded the Ross Jamieson Memorial Prize for the highest grade.

Before co-founding Novak Hiles Architects, Adam was an Associate at award winning practices Duggan Morris Architects (now Morris+Company) and Mary Duggan Architects. He led numerous key projects within both offices and gained a considerable breadth of experience over many years delivering high profile award winning projects of varying scale for a wide range of clients within the housing, private residential, commercial, education, public arts and public realm sectors.

Adam’s design work has been exhibited in the RA Summer Exhibition on three separate occasions and he has written for architectural publications such as BD and Blueprint.

Alongside work in practice, Adam has taught a vertical studio unit with Carla Novak on the Masters in Architecture Part 2 course at Canterbury School of Architecture UCA since 2019. He also previously taught on the undergraduate BA (Hons) Architecture course. Adam has also been an invited Lecturer at Central St Martins and Chelsea School of Art & Design UAL.

Adam is a RIBA chartered member.
